Art Lesson for Project Work/アートレッスン紹介

Here is an introduction to lessons at CGK Afterschool.
CGKアフタースクールでのレッスンについて紹介いたします。

CGK's eight-week-long project works will be based on the main “Driving Question”.
Here are the Driving Questions for this "Art" lesson.
CGKの8週間に渡って行うプロジェクト活動では、メインとなる「ドライビングクエスチョン」に基づいて学んでいきます。
今回の「アート」レッスンでのドライビングクエスチョンはこちらです。

"How can we express ourselves through art?"
「アートを使ってどのように自分を表現できるでしょうか？」

This issue is a summary of art lessons over the past year.
We followed this question with fun lessons each week that drew the student's interest.
Here are the comments of Mr. Bobby, the teacher who was in charge of the lessons.
今回はこの1年間のアートレッスンの総まとめです。
この問いに沿って、毎週子どもたちの興味を引き出す楽しいレッスンを行いました。
担当していたBobby先生のコメントをつけてご紹介します。

 
Week 1
Students watched a video about self expression how to express their feelings. Students worked on questions to learn about for self-expression. Students discussed how they express themselves.
初めに、動画を見て自分の感情を表現する方法について学びました。自己表現に関する問を考えたり、普段どのように自分たちが自己表現しているか話し合ったりしました。
 
Week 2
Students explored different artistic mediums. In groups they thought about the different kinds of arts and thought about what self expression can mean.
生徒たちはさまざまな芸術的媒体を探求しました。グループに分かれて、さまざまな芸術の種類について考え、自己表現とは何かについて考えました。
 
Week 3
Read the story “Say Something” and discussed the ways in the character in the book can express themselves. Students began to work through an activity book to learn different ways to express themselves.
「Say Something」という物語を読み、本の中の登場人物がどのように自分を表現しているかを話し合いました。生徒たちはアクティビティブックを使って、自分を表現するさまざまな方法を学び始めました。
 
Week 4
Students continued through the activity book. They learned about poems and how to write one about something they like or care about. For presentation time they did an activity called “1 minute talking” One person would speak for one minute then the rest of students had one minute to ask questions about their artwork.
先週に続き、生徒たちは、アクティビティブックに取り組みました。また、詩について、自分の好きなことや関心のあることをテーマにした詩の書き方を学びました。プレゼンテーションの時間には、「1分間トーク」というアクティビティを行いました。1人が1分間話し、残りの生徒が1分間で作品について質問するというものです。
 

Week 5
Students learned about self esteem and wrote about things they were proud about about themselves. Trying to get the kids to think deeper than just superficial things. Students learned how to speak kindly about themselves and others.
生徒たちは自尊心について学び、自分自身について誇りに思っていることを書きました。表面的なことだけでなく、もっと深く考えてもらうようにしました。そして、生徒たちは、自分や他の人に対して親切に話す方法を学びました。
 
Week 6
Continuing from last week the students worked on their own self expression and learning about themselves.  Students began to think of their final project and created thumbnails for their final project.
先週に引き続き、生徒たちは自己表現と自分自身についての学習に取り組みました。 生徒たちは最終的なプロジェクトについて考え始め、最終的なプロジェクトのアイデアをサムネイルにまとめました。
 
Week 7-8
Students worked on their final projects and prepared their final presentations. Students finished their final projects and prepared for their presentations. Students shared their final art worked and discussed their chosen mediums.
生徒たちは最終プロジェクトに取り組み、最終プレゼンテーションの準備をしました。そして生徒たちは最終プロジェクトを完成させ、プレゼンテーションの準備をしました。生徒たちは、最終的に制作したアート作品を共有し、自分が選んだメディアについて話し合いました。

During the presentation, each student was able to introduce his or her work using a microphone.
Presentations are a very important time in CGK lessons.
It is an opportunity to develop true global skills of expression and communication.
The students' presentations, which at first consisted of just a word or two, have become more effective over the past year in conveying their thoughts and feelings.
We will continue to value this "public speaking" and link it to the children's growth.

プレゼンテーションでは、子どもたち一人ひとりマイクを使って自分の作品を紹介することができました。
プレゼンテーションはCGKのレッスンでとても大事な時間です。
表現力やコミュニケーション力という真のグローバルスキルを伸ばすことができます。
初めは一言二言で終わっていた子どもたちのプレゼンテーションも1年間で自分の考えや思いを伝えられるようになりました。
これからもこの「パブリックスピーキング」を大切にして、子どもたちの成長につなげていきます。

I can't wait to see how these children grow in the years to come!
