English Learning and Beyond!

Venture into a New World! Real Inquiry-based Activities
CGK Preschool, well-respected as a center for global education in childcare and early childhood education, pursues deeper learning to raise children's "Self-expression," "Acute Cognitive Ability," and "Spirit of Inquiry."
We provide a place for people to feel close to the world, to look at the world as a global citizen, and to envision a future where everyone can be happy.

Features of CGK Afterschool

Point 01

Raising "Real Global Kids"

Focusing not only on English ability, but also on raising "Real Global Kids" with
"Self-expression",
"Acute Cognitive Ability" and a
"Spirit of Inquiry."
Our programs are made for the children to express themselves, to research their curiosities and to think deeply.

Point 02

Not a Place to Study English

The children already have good English language skills so instead of spending a lot of time studying English, we emphasize learning in English.
We seek to find enjoyment through the learning of different topics in the English language, instead of simply enjoying English.
As a general rule, the classroom is an English-only environment.

Point 03

English Ability will be Checked

In order to further develop "global education" at CGK Preschool where we nurture "Self-expression," "Acute Cognitive Ability" and a "Spirit of Inquiry," part of our enrollment selection process will be to check the student’s English ability.
Our curriculum is designed without language barriers.

Point 04

A Fun and Lively Place to Enjoy Advanced Learning

The children experience learning on a daily basis that stimulates acute cognitive ability and spirit of inquiry, based on communication skills (self-expression) essential for active learning.
Enjoy learning and get excited about the new world ahead.

"Real Global Kids" with Self-expression, Acute Cognitive Ability and a Spirit of Inquiry

Self-expression

The Ability to Express Yourself to Others

Rather than surface language skills, we place importance on the ability to understand other people's ideas, conveying their own ideas and engaging in dialogue.
They will also give presentations and hold discussions in order to them develop necessary English skills.

Acute Cognitive Ability

The ability to create without convention

Through the understanding and tolerance of diversity and the use of critical thinking skills to think outside the box, children can develop the ability to find new paths on their own, while still being conscious of the need for both cooperation and independence.

探究心

Endless Motivation Toward the Future

Through various activities that will broaden their horizons, we'll nurture interest in a new world and open up endless possibilities for the future.
We value excitement towards learning and wanting to know more.

Main Class Activities

CGK Afterschool program is based on "active learning".

Instead of sitting at a desk all day, the children will learn how to think, research and realize what they want and need to learn, based on a variety of different themes.
Nurturing a child's curiosity to learn more will become a valuable asset throughout their lifetime.
The possibilities are endless for a child who has mastered the skill of finding out what they want to know.

We have created the best environment to nurture these Global Kids.

Project Work

The children form teams and work on projects together.

Every week we set up a project based on one of the five themes of Art, Job Training, Social Studies, Science and Moral Education, working towards the core question and the goal of the project.

By playing games that spark interest, looking up things they don't understand, thinking as a team and looking for solutions, children will acquire true English proficiency that includes reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

We don't simply study English, we are creating the best environment to learn in English.

FAQ

Do you accept English beginners?

We require a set level of English proficiency in order to enroll. Those wishing to enroll will have an interview with the teacher. Our original curriculum requires a certain level of English.
This is due to our goal of improving skills other than English, such as presentation and communication skills to nurture "Real Global Kids" through our unique content.

Up to what grade can students attend?

Eligible grades are from 1st to 4th (TBD). We are considering offering optional classes for students in 5th grade and higher.

What if we miss the bus?

To give the children enough time, we scheduled a pick-up time that matches the school's dismissal time after the end of 5th period. But if for some reason school finishes late and they miss the bus, they will need to come to CGK Afterschool by themselves, for example by taking public transportation. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you for understanding that our bus needs to visit multiple schools. Please let us know if there are any changes to the schedule or if there is a special time change.

Can we take make-up lessons?

As we work on a different theme every two months, we do not hold make-up lessons on a different day of the week or on holidays, even if the request is due to the student's (or parent / guardian's) circumstances, or due to the weather, disaster or school event.
To keep it fair, the monthly fee will differ depending on the month and day of the week.
For details, check the fee schedule.

Do you have a return bus service?

No, we don't offer a return bus service.
While it may be an extra burden on the parent/guardian, we would appreciate having the chance to chat when you pick up the child, in order to talk about how things are going and the child’s growth.
However, if you let us know in advance, the child can return home alone.
In that case, please note that we will not be responsible for any trouble that may occur after leaving school.

Does the bus service go to both national and private elementary schools?

Our bus service only goes to eligible public elementary schools.

Are students from CGK Preschool given priority?

While it depends on the situation at the time of application, if there is space available, priority will be given to students from the Preschool.
We will also let you know about seasonal schools in advance so you can apply before all the spaces are filled.
A reservation fee may be charged to secure early enrollment.

Junior High School Exam Preparation

At present, we have no plans to prepare students for the junior high school exam.

Do you help students prepare for the EIKEN test?

At present, we have no plans to prepare students for the EIKEN test.

Long Vacations

We close during Golden Week (one week), Summer Vacation (one week including the Obon Holiday) and Winter Vacation (one week including the New Year holiday).

Can my child attend school from the morning during Summer or Winter Vacation?

At our Seasonal School, we offer a fun program in the morning.
Bring some friends along, as depending on the day, we may have some programs for English beginners.
We hold classes as usual during the afternoons, so it will not be possible to accept students attending only during summer and winter vacation.
Those who want their child to continue attending after the vacation period, please apply using the usual enrollment procedures (including the enrollment interview).

Dealing with Allergies

Be sure to tell us about any allergies or chronic illnesses at the time of enrollment.
We may not always be able to adjust the ingredients used at snack time or dinner during extended hours, even if notified in advance. In that case, we may ask you to bring something from home.

Can you look over their studies or homework?

If requested, it may be possible to arrange individual homework time, but please note that we won't always be able to provide a quiet and calm environment.
Let us know whether you'd like to prioritize homework or CGK activities.

Do you have a bus service that goes to after school activities or cram school?

No.
While it may be possible to leave our school temporarily if the parent/guardian requests in advance, the student must leave/re-enter on their own and the school will not be held responsible for any accidents etc. that may occur while they are out of school.

Can I set the time and place of the bus stop?

Sorry, but the school will set the time and place.
Please note that the school arrival time will depend on the route.
Also, please note that we do not provide return transportation, so please pick them up from school.
