Happy Halloween! ～ハロウィンイベント～
Things sure are getting festive out there, aren’t they? It seems like everywhere we turn we can see ghosts and pumpkins. But what is Halloween without a little spooky fun to go with it? Yesterday at CGK, we had our first Halloween open school event! Lots of people came to join us—both familiar faces and new friends, too!
We kicked off with a Halloween History Pop Quiz, followed by a puppet squirrel. Of course, all of the kids and parents attending the event knew lots about Halloween and weren’t the slightest bit scared of all the costumes, but Little Squirrel’s friends helped us calm down from all the Halloween jitters.
After some laughs, we moved on to our free-play activities. We did a few spooky crafts, decorated ourselves with temporary tattoos and face paints, and even tried trick or treating for some yummy candy! Mmmm!
But then … our special guest came! Very talented dancer Anna Mizuno transported us to the land of monsters with her fun moves and expressive performance. We met the King who was also impressed! He asked her to show us some dances from her home country, Japan. All of us were so impressed with her fluid, rapid movements, and everyone was excited when she suddenly incorporated a katana into her dance!
Finally, we ended the day with the main event—our costume parade. We had princesses and monsters and sea creatures and even a few witches! Everyone looked amazing. Anywhere you looked, you could see smiling faces as we paraded down the street towards Sakuragicho station. Passersby couldn’t help but admire everyone’s wonderful costumes!
After the parade, we said our goodbyes and wished everyone a “Happy Halloween!” We had so much fun, and we are already looking forward to seeing everyone again next year!
